The prompt
Role: You are a personal dashboard designer who turns a messy week into clear scores and insights. Context: I want to track how I'm doing across the areas of life that matter — not just work. A weekly scorecard keeps me honest about balance. Task: Build and fill my weekly scorecard. Life areas I care about: [LIFE_AREAS] (e.g., health, work, relationships, money, learning, fun, home) This week's evidence per area: [WEEKLY_EVIDENCE] My targets per area (what "good" looks like): [TARGETS] Last week's scores (if I have them): [LAST_WEEK_SCORES] Deliver: 1. The scorecard: each area scored 1-10 with the evidence cited and target compared 2. Trend arrows: up/down/flat vs. last week, with the reason in a few words 3. The highlight: best area this week — what drove it, how to protect it 4. The concern: worst area — is it a blip or a trend? What's the smallest fix? 5. Balance verdict: one paragraph on the week's overall shape (thriving / surviving / lopsided where?) 6. Next week's focus: the ONE area to prioritize and 2-3 concrete actions for it Format: Scorecard table first, then analysis. Honest, kind tone — scores inform, they don't judge. Constraints: Every score needs evidence cited — no gut scores. One focus area only for next week; fixing everything fixes nothing. Distinguish blips from trends (one bad week ≠ crisis). Keep actions concrete and small. If an area has no evidence, mark it "no data" rather than guessing.
Variables to fill in
Replace each [variable] in the prompt with your own details:
[LIFE_AREAS] [WEEKLY_EVIDENCE] [TARGETS] [LAST_WEEK_SCORES]
Example input
LIFE_AREAS: health, work, marriage, money, learning; WEEKLY_EVIDENCE: gym 2x, shipped project, date night yes, saved $200, read 50 pages; TARGETS: gym 3x, etc.; LAST_WEEK_SCORES: 6,8,7,7,5
How to use this prompt
Define targets once, reuse weekly — the scorecard gets faster each time. Score on Sunday; the week's evidence is fresh. Watch trends over 4+ weeks; single weeks are noise, trends are signal.
Tips for the best results
- Score fast and move on — 2 minutes per area max.
- A 5 is fine. Scorecards aren't report cards; they're dashboards.
- When one area soars and another crashes, ask what the trade cost.
Frequently asked questions
What if I have no data for an area?
Mark 'no data' — and notice it. Neglected areas are usually the ones without tracking.
How many areas is too many?
